Good list Derek. With adverbs, I wouldn't go quite so far as to say delete all of them, just use them sparingly.

One other thing we could add: specificity. Wherever you can, be specific, not vague or ambiguous. Why does that matter? Because then your reader can see or hear the thing you are describing. Good writing should impact the intellect and the emotions. Frequently. Being specific shows you have thought about your subject. You are writing with intent. And intelligence.
