The 5 Types of Notes That Earned Me $457 and 753 Subscribers Last Month
Last month, 753 new subscribers found me through Notes. And $457 landed too.
The year before that, my Notes did nothing at all.
All because I changed the kind of Notes I posted.
Look at your last ten Notes. Odds are they’re all the same kind. A quick thought, a link drop, a half-formed idea fired off between meetings. Same shape every time. And when every Note sounds the same, people scroll past without registering you.
Each type of Note does a different job. One earns attention. One builds trust. One shows the work pays off. You need the full set.
Here are the five:
1. Solution Note: be useful
Readers follow you because they want help.
A quick tip, a how-to, a shortcut that saves them ten minutes. The kind of thing people save and come back to.
2. Story Note: be real
Drop the mask.
Share something small and true from your own life. A story pulls people closer than any top-ten list ever will.
3. Success Note: be proven
People want proof.
Share a win, yours or a reader’s. The reader who’s wondering whether any of this pays off needs to see that it does.
4. Stance Note: be distinct
Pick a hill and stand on it.
Tell people what you believe, what you’ve stopped doing, what you’d argue with. The clearer the stance, the more people lean in.
5. Share Note: be generous
Promote your own post, yes. But don’t just dump the link. Add a line that teases what’s inside, enough to spark curiosity without giving away the ending.
Play one note and the whole thing sounds flat. Play all five and you stop being another writer clogging the feed.
That mix is what grows an audience. So this week, don’t post more. Post differently. Use all five.
Want the rest? My Substack Notes Playbook breaks down all five, with the real Notes that brought those 753 subscribers in and templates you can copy straight away. It's here.

Thank you so appreciate your ideas and contribution.
